Texas Wildlife Park & Education Center is a hidden Texas treat and one of the best things to do in Hill Country. Unlike a traditional zoo, it offers visitors a chance to enjoy up-close wildlife experiences. This family-owned attraction combines guided tours, educational exhibits, and interactive animal encounters for guests of all ages.

Both families and adults will enjoy the memorable opportunities to connect with animals from around the world. From observing majestic big cats to feeding a baby bear, every visit is designed to inspire curiosity and appreciation for the animal kingdom.

About Texas Wildlife Park

For years, Texas Wildlife Park & Education Center has provided visitors with guided tours of its conservation-focused zoo. Guests learn directly from knowledgeable staff while observing animals in a more personal setting.

The park's mission focuses on encouraging respect for wildlife by teaching visitors about animal behavior, habitats, and the importance of caring for their environments. Its smaller size and guided format allow guests to ask questions, interact with staff, and gain a deeper understanding of the animals that call the park home.

Visit the Animals

Texas Wildlife Park is home to more than 200 animals representing dozens of species from across the globe. During a guided tour, visitors can meet an impressive variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles. Knowledgeable guides teach about the animals, their natural habitats, diets, behaviors, and conservation needs. Some of the park's most popular residents include exotic birds, lions, tigers, sloths, capybaras, camels, kangaroos, miniature cattle, and several species of reptiles.

Rather than simply viewing exhibits, guests are guided through the park by experienced staff who introduce many of the animals by name and share interesting facts about their personalities and daily care. This interactive approach creates a more engaging visit and gives guests a greater appreciation for the work involved in caring for these remarkable animals.

Animal Encounters

For visitors looking to make their trip even more memorable, Texas Wildlife Park offers a variety of optional animal encounters. These supervised experiences provide an opportunity to interact with select animals while learning more about each species from the park's animal care team.

Every experience offers opportunities for photos with the animals. Some of our favorite encounters include:

Baby Bear Bottle Feeding

One of the park's most popular experiences, the Baby Bear Bottle Feeding encounter allows guests to help feed a young bear while learning about its growth, development, and daily care. They also learn about some bear behaviors and how to stay safe if they happen upon one in the wild.

Capybara

Meet one of the friendliest animals at the park during the Capybara Encounter. Guests can pet and feed these gentle animals while learning about their social nature and native habitat. They can also learn why they have become one of the world's most recognizable exotic species.

Otter

The Otter Encounter gives visitors the chance to spend time with one of the park's most playful animals. During the supervised experience, guests can interact with the otters. They can also observe their energetic personalities and learn about their natural behaviors, intelligence, and adaptations.

Mini Cow & Friends

Perfect for families, the Mini Cow & Friends encounter introduces guests to the park's miniature cattle and other friendly barnyard animals. Visitors can pet, feed, and interact with them while staff teach about each animal’s unique characteristics. This fun experience is a favorite for children and animal lovers alike.

Snake

The Snake Encounter offers a safe and educational introduction to one of nature's most misunderstood animals. Under the guidance of experienced handlers, guests can hold a snake and learn about its important role in the ecosystem. Staff will also talk about snakes’ unique adaptations while helping visitors gain a new appreciation for these remarkable reptiles.
