We’ve earned the reputation of being a true deer lover’s paradise, and for good reason. Here, encountering these graceful creatures is a regular and enchanting part of the camping experience.
Forget flipping through nature documentaries – at our campground, you’ll witness deer in their natural habitat, creating unforgettable memories. But what makes us a deer lover’s paradise, and how can you safely enjoy these incredible animals during your stay? Let’s dive in!
Deer Sightings Galore: A Daily Dose of Wonder
One of the most common questions we get is, “How often do guests actually see deer?” The answer? All day long! Our deer live in our campground, making it a genuine deer lover’s paradise. Thanks to the surrounding lush foliage and open meadows, our location provides the perfect environment for them to thrive.
The reason you’ll see so many deer is because our campground is a deer sanctuary. Our entire campground is gated and high fenced and our deer live within this area among our guests. Our guests are able to join our staff during feeding time and even partake in the feeding if they like. Or you can purchase deer corn from our on-site store if you would like to feed them on your own. Some of the kinds of deer you will see are Blackbuck (Indian antelope), White Tail and Axis deer (Chital).
Prime Time for Peeking: When to Spot the Most Deer
Timing is everything! While deer are present year-round, there are definitely peak times to maximize your chances of a sighting in this deer lover’s paradise.
-
- Dawn and Dusk: Just like many animals, deer are most active during the crepuscular hours – that is, dawn and dusk. These are the best times to grab your camera, find a comfortable spot, and patiently observe the surrounding areas. The soft light and cooler temperatures make it a pleasant time for both you and the deer.
-
- Spring and Fall: Spring brings new life, and with it, does caring for their fawns. Fall is the rutting season, when bucks are actively pursuing mates. Both seasons offer increased activity and exciting wildlife viewing opportunities. The vibrant foliage of fall also provides a stunning backdrop for your deer sightings.
-
- Avoid Midday Heat: During the hottest parts of the day, deer tend to seek shelter in shaded areas. While you might still spot deer, your chances are a bit lower.

Safe and Respectful Deer Encounters: A Guide for Responsible Viewing
While it’s tempting to get up close and personal with these beautiful animals, it’s crucial to remember that they are wild and should be treated with respect. Here’s how to enjoy the deer responsibly:
-
- Keep a Safe Distance: Maintain a respectful distance from the deer. Approaching them too closely can cause stress and anxiety. Use binoculars or a zoom lens to get a better view without disturbing them.
-
- Supervise Children and Pets: Keep children and pets under close supervision at all times. Even the most well-behaved dog can startle a deer, leading to a chase or even an attack.
-
- Drive Slowly and Carefully: Be extra cautious when driving through the campground, especially during dawn and dusk. Deer often dart across roads unexpectedly.
-
- Observe from a Distance: Enjoy watching the deer from a distance. Avoid making loud noises or sudden movements that might scare them away.
-
- Report Any Concerns: If you notice a deer that appears injured or distressed, please report it to the campground staff.
